MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers rallied for an 82-72 overtime win over the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in women’s basketball action in the Health & Sports Center on Saturday.

The Bucs (9-5) trailed the Sailfish (5-12) by as many as eight points in the first half and by five, 33-28 at the break. The Bucs rallied to tie the game at 46-46 on a jumper by Kaila Britten at the 12-38 mark, but the Sailfish reeled off a 7-0 run over the next 2:38 to regain a seven-point advantage on a baseline jumper from Nina Krstic.

Barry fought back again and took a 60-58 lead with 3:48 to play on a Jackie Perez three-pointer. Ashley Lutz put the Bucs up 65-62 at the 0:59 second mark, but Janelle Cannon answered with a three-pointer to knot the game at 65-65 on the next possession.

Barry was unable to connect on a shot by Lutz at the buzzer and the game went into the extra period. Perez scored first for the Bucs in the extra frame and Lutz hit back-to-back three pointers to put the Bucs up by eight and the Sailfish never got closer than seven the rest of the way.

Perez scored a career-high 21 points and added five assists and three steals to lead the Bucs. Lutz chipped in 17 points and five steals off the bench, while Nyjah Porcher had 11 points and Britten recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Nkiru Anyagaligbo led the Sailfish with 21 points. Natalie Wood had 11 and Cannon and Ayanna Holmes each had 10.

The Bucs get back into Sunshine State Conference play on Wednesday, Jan. 14, hosting the undefeated Florida Tech Panthers at 5:30 pm.
