CARACAS, Venezuela -- Barry University women's golfer Nancy Vergara qualified for the prestigious South American Copa Los Andes tournament in her native country.
Vergara shot 71-76-79-72-77-75-70-74 in the four-day, 144-hole qualifier at Lagunita Country Club. She finished six shots behind winner Alejandra Merchan and one stroke ahead of Cladia de Antonio and Dismay Marquez.
Vergara is one of five women who will represent Venezuela in the South American tournament Nov. 19-25 at Lagunita Country Club in Caracas.
