Men's Soccer Honors Nine Seniors In Season Finale

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Nine Barry men’s soccer players will celebrate the culmination of their careers with the Barry University soccer program when the Bucs host Eckerd College Saturday night in the regular season finale.

Fred Perez, Edwin Jean, Randy Taylor, Kendall Sealy, Houghton Kinsman, Christian Yidios, Guilherme Oliveira, Johnny Rodrigues and Joe Conkleton make up the senior class that will be honored Saturday.

The senior class combined to bring home the Buccaneer’s Sunshine State Conference championship in 2010. In 2009, Jean, Taylor, Sealy, Kinsman, Yidios, Rodrigues and Conkleton were also part of the 2009 Sunshine State Conference Tournament championship team.

 Perez came to Barry in 2010 after transferring from Darton College. This fall he has started in 13 games for the Bucs while leading the team with 47 saves and two shutout victories. On Oct 13th he made a career-high 10 saves in a 1-1 draw against Nova Southeastern University. He’s been named to the Athletic Directors list three times and the Dean’s list once. He is a member of the 2010 Sunshine State Conference regular season championship team.

 Jean has been an important part of the Buccaneer program that captured Sunshine State Conference Tournament title in 2009 as well as the Sunshine State Conference regular season championship in 2010. He was named to the Athletic Director’s list in the fall of 2011.

Taylor came to Barry after transferring from Lenoir-Rhyne in 2009. He’s played in 49 games throughout his career. As a freshman he led the team in assists with nine, and scored a pair of game-winning goals. He tied the school record with three assists in a 5-0 win over St Thomas on Oct. 9, 2009. He is a member of the 2009 Sunshine State Conference Tournament Champions and the 2010 Sunshine State Conference regular season championship teams.

Sealy is a four year letter man that has played in 71 games for the Buccaneers ranking 8th all-time. He has scored 13 goals throughout his career and added 14 assists for a total of 40 points. He ranks 12th all-time in shots on goal, minutes played and game-winning goals in program history. He’s been named to the University Dean’s list twice. He is a member of the 2009 Sunshine State Conference Tournament Champions and the 2010 Sunshine State Conference regular season championship teams.

Kinsman has played in 64 games. He scored his first career goal in an overtime victory over Webber on September 13, 2009 as a freshman. Last fall he was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team. He’s been named to the Dean’s List six times and is a member of the 2009 Sunshine State Conference Tournament and the 2010 Sunshine State Conference regular season championship teams.

Yidios is a four year letter man who played in 44 games for the Bucs in his career. He’s been a versatile player with the ability to play defensively as well as the midfield when called upon. He scored his first career goal in a 3-0 victory over Florida Tech in the quarterfinal of the SSC Tournament as a freshman. He is a member of the 2009 Sunshine State Conference Tournament Champions and the 2010 Sunshine State Conference regular season championship teams.

Oliveira came to Barry in 2010 after transferring from Marshall Town Community College. His sophomore season he started 14 of the 18 games and was part of the 2010 Sunshine State Conference Championship team. He evolved into one of the premiere midfielders in the nation earning All-Sunshine State Conference First Team as a midfielder, Sunshine State Conference All-Tournament Team, Daktronics, Inc. All-South Region Team, and Daktronics All-America Honorable Mention. He’s also been named to the University Dean’s list three times.

Rodrigues will go down as one of the most decorated Buccaneers on program history. A three year letter man, he’s played in 57 games throughout his career. He currently ranks in the top-five in ten different categories including third in most wins (35), third in saves (202) and second all-time with a .805 save percentage. As a freshman, he did not allow a goal throughout the SSC tournament in route to the Bucs Championship earning him All-Tournament team honors. He’s been a 2-time All-SSC 1st Team Goalkeeper, 2-time Daktronics All-South Region as well as 2010 NSCAA and 2011 Daktronics All-American. He’s been named to the Barry Honors List throughout his career. He is also a member of the 2009 Sunshine State Conference Tournament Champions and the 2010 Sunshine State Conference regular season championship teams.

Our final senior, Conkleton, has been an anchor for the program throughout the past four years. He’s played in 71 games throughout his career including 69 starts which ranks fifth on the all-time list. He’s currently second all-time with 6072 minutes played in his Buccaneer career. He is a two-time Daktronics All-South Region selection as well as 2010 Daktronics All-American. In his four-year career, he’s helped post 26 shutouts. He’s been named to the Barry Honors List throughout his career. In 2011, he earned Capital One Academic All-District and was a member of the 2009 Sunshine State Conference Tournament Champions and the 2010 Sunshine State Conference regular season championship teams.
