MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers rebounded from back-to-back losses with an 81-68 win over the Saint Leo Lions in Sunshine State Conference women’s basketball action in the Health & Sports Center on Saturday.
The Bucs (8-4, 1-3 SSC) led by 10, 21-11, with 9:18 left in the first period. But the Lions bounced back to take a 36-35 lead into intermission.
In the second half, however, the Bucs shot a blistering 52.6 percent from the field and out-scored the Lions 23-4 at the free throw line.
Dominique Dixon, who led all players with 20 points, nailed a three-pointer on the Bucs’ first possession of the second period and they did not trail the rest of the game.
Colette Eule and Jackie Perez back up Dixon with 16 points each, while Kaley Howard came off the bench with 14 points. Teresa Manigrasso led the Lions with 15 points, while Keishara Green and Chelsea Connolly each had 11 and Kinnara Lewis and Chelsea Willams each chipped in 10.
The Bucs travel out of the conference on Wednesday, Jan. 16 as they visit Palm Beach Atlantic.
