WINTER PARK, Fla. -- For the third straight week, Barry University rowing's Varsity 8 has been named Sunshine State Conference Boat of the Week presented by VALIC.
In a head-to-head showdown between the top two teams in Division II, No. 1 Barry defeated No. 2 Nova Southeastern by almost 12 seconds in the Varsity 8 race. The Buccaneers crossed the finish line in 6:44.9, besting the Sharks' time of 6:56.7. Combining for the win were coxswain Grace Horwitz (Chicago, Ill.), Kristina Boncheva (Sofia, Bulgaria), Anna Boada (Barcelona, Spain), Rosita Boncheva (Sofia, Bulgaria), Monika Kaminska (Walcz, Poland), Beth Desmond (Cape May, N.J.), Anais Foppoli (Thonon, France), Emma Howard (Newton Square, Pa.), and Kelly Harrison (Fairfax, Va.).

Barry rows in the FIRA Championships in Sarasota Saturday. It will be the first major regatta for the Buccaneers this season.
