KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The awards just keep coming for Barry University women’s soccer star Lavinia Nkomo as she earned a spot on the 2014 NSCAA Women's College Division Scholar All-America Team on Wednesday.
Nkomo, who has already been named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year and All-American by both the NSCAA and Daktronics, carries an outstanding 3.80 GPA in Exercise Physiology. The junior from Southampton, England is the first Buccaneer women’s soccer player in the program’s storied history to earn two All-America awards and a Scholar All-America award in the same season.
Nkomo, who was selected as a second-team All-American Scholar, led the Bucs with six goals and added two assists this season, as they claimed the SSC title for the second straight year. She posted game-winning goals in a 2-1 win over Rollins on Oct. 4 and a 3-0 win over Eckerd on Nov. 1.
