MIAMI SHORES, FL— A dominant performance on the mound, and two offensive bursts gave Barry baseball their second win of the year in a 7-0 exhibition victory over Miami Dade College.

Three runs in the second inning and four in the bottom of the ninth gave the Buccaneers their second straight win to start off the year.

Starting on the mound tonight was junior right-hander Adrian Benitez who pitched 3 perfect innings before being replaced by Joeanthony Rivera, who along with Andy Rohloff and Jesse Montalto gave up no runs, and just one hit.

Offensively, the Bucs struggled with leaving men on base not being able to bring runners in scoring position home for most of the night.

However, a two-RBI double by freshman Ross Thibeault help lead to three runs in the bottom of the second inning for Barry. Also, four consecutive walks with bases loaded each time and the first Barry home run of the season by Ramon Valdez  brought home four extra runs in the voluntarily added bottom of the ninth inning to make it 7-0.

Up next for the Buccaneers is their first regular season matchup as they travel to nearby St. Thomas on Wednesday February 4th, and they play their first home game February 7th versus Tuskegee.
