Men's Soccer Chips Past Mocs To Start SSC Play With Win

LAKELAND, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers got the Sunshine State Conference men’s soccer season off on the right foot as they opened league play with a 1-0 win at Barnett Field against Florida Southern on Saturday night.

Mumbi Kwesele chipped in the only score of the game in the 66th minute. Joong Kim and Patrick Drmola combined on the assist for the Bucs (4-5-1, 1-0-0 SSC).

Barry’s Johnny Rodrigues had three saves to post his second shutout of the season. Cole Clingerman had five saves for the Mocs (2-5-0, 0-1-0 SSC).

The teams each took eight shots, but Barry led on goal 6-3.

The Bucs return home for Rivalry Week, sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps, to face Nova Southeastern on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7:00 pm at Buccaneer Field.
