MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University men’s midfielder Lucas Rio Torto has earned a spot on the 2013 CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-South Region men's soccer team.

A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Rio Torto has helped guide the Bucs to a berth in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament this season. The junior has started nine of the 15 matches in which he has played while adding a pair of assists on the season.

Rio Torto, a business management major, was named to the Dean’s list (3.5-3.999 GPA) both semesters in 2012 while also earning a spot on the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

As part of the team’s community service, Rio Torto participated in several activities with the Cavalry Church of Fort Lauderdale Youth Soccer League throughout last spring.
