DAVIE, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers fell to 0-2 with a 94-67 loss to the 22nd-ranked Washburn Ichabods in the NSU Women’s Basketball Tip-off Classic on Sunday.
The Buccaneers (0-2) stayed close to the Ichabods in the early going, but their only lead came at 17:39 at 5-4 when Ines Kerin hit a three-pointer. Barry tied the game 13-13 at the 14:18 mark of the first half on a layup by Danika Pisconeri.
But the Ichabods went on a 13-4 run over the five minutes to push the lead to 26-17. Washburn extended the lead to 12 in the first period, before going into the locker room up 47-36.
In the second period, Ichabods (1-1) jumped on the Bucs early, going up by 20 in the first four minutes. After an exchange of buckets, the Bucs were unable to get closer than 20 the rest of the way.
Kerin and Lynae Richardson led Barry with 15 points each. Tyler Hardy chipped in 11. Casey Buchman Led Washburn with 24 points. Kara Lee added 18, while Honor Duvall had 12, Brittney Lynch had 11 and Janelle Travis had 10.
The Bucs play at cross-town rival Florida Memorial on Friday, Nov. 15 at 6:00 pm, then open the home part of the slate on Thursday, Nov. 21 against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez.
