Men's Golf: Svensson Shoots 146 at Nova Scotia Open

HALIFAX, Canada -- Barry University men's golfer Adam Svensson shot 1-over par in the second round of the web.com Tour's Nova Scotia Open Friday.

Competing on an amateur's exemption in a professional event for the second straight summer, Svensson shot 74-72 -- 146 on the par-71 Ashburn Golf Club -- New Course. Svensson, of Surrey Vancouver, British Columbia, had three birdies and four bogeys in the second round. He had three birdies and six bogeys in the opening round.

Svensson strung together back-to-back birdies on Nos. 11-12 in the first round. He moved to even with a birdie on the par-5, 582-yard 17th Friday before bogeying the par-4 18. 

He had an average driving distance of 290.5 with a long of 314 in the opening round. His second round yielded an average drive of 290 with a long of 293.

Last year, Svensson played in the RBC Canadian Open, a PGA Tour event, where on a sponsor's exemption he shot 76-72 -- 148, missing the cut in Oakville, Ontario.
