MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers dropped a 68-54 decision to the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers in the second round of the Nova Southeastern Women’s Basketball Tip-off Classic on Saturday. Due to a scheduling mishap, the game was played at Barry’s Health & Sports Center.
The Chargers (1-1) hit a three-pointer on their first possession, one of 16 on 31 attempts for the game, and never trailed.
The Bucs, playing without Kim Flournoy, Toni Neibler and Kaylia Richardson, just didn’t have enough firepower as the Chargers hit 53.5 percent from the floor and 51.6 percent from three-point range.
Ashley Lutz, filling in for Flournoy, scored a career-high 17 points, while Jackie Perez added 10. Dina Saunders had 22 points for the Chargers, hitting 7-of-13 from three-point range.
The Bucs host the Florida Memorial Lions on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
