DENVER, Colo. – The Barry University women’s soccer team (0-1-0) were run over by the Regis University Rangers, 3-1, on Friday afternoon at Ranger Field.

Within the first four minutes of the game, senior Erin Bevacqua scored the first goal of the season for the Rangers (1-0-0), picking off a pass at the top of the 18-yard box and beating keeper Sami Cromartie to the near post.

Regis picked the lucky card of the day as junior Carter Cornett scored the second goal for the Rangers from the unfortunate deflection off of Cromartie’s shin to put Barry down 2-0 in the 18th minute.

With less than ten minutes reminaing in the game, Ranger defenders attempted to clear the ball only to have it put back in by junior Kalie Adkinson. Adkinson’s power kick was just enough to clear the heads of the Ranger defenders and reach awaiting junior Elanna Brady for the Buccaneers’ first and only goal of the game.

Unfortunately, Kelsey Hovden found the back of the net less than three minutes later to make it 3-1 Regis and that's the way it stayed.

Cromartie made four saves for the Bucs in taking the loss, while Holly Redmond earned the win for Regis with two saves.

The Buccaneers will close out their time in Colorado on Sunday, Aug. 26 against Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. at 11:00 am.
