ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Barry University women’s basketball team (4-0) began the Thanksgiving holiday weekend with a 62-45 win over the Flagler College Saints on Wednesday evening at the Flagler College Gymnasium.

Each Buccaneer on the roster saw playing time in tonight’s game against the Saints. Senior Amanda Mageean was the only player in the game to earn double-digits with a game-high 10 points, while teammate Lucy Martinez led the Bucs with six rebounds. As a team, the Bucs were 60 percent from the free throw line with three players shooting 100 percent, all 2-2.

With three minutes left in the game, the Buccaneers held their largest lead off a jumper from newcomer Kia Palmer to put the Bucs up 58-38. Junior Raina Smith drained two free throws with :43 on the clock to close out the Bucs’ scoring for the night.

The first half started off with a lethargic feel to the game as the Bucs held the Saints’ shooting to just under 23 percent. Christina Thompson’s trey sent the Bucs into the locker room leading the Saints, 27-19, at the half.  Still, Barry finished the game shooting 34 percent from the field, holding the Saints to a much improved 50 percent in the second half.

The Bucs return home for the holiday and will host Puerto Rico-Cayey at the Health and Sports Center on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 4:00 pm.
