BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Barry University men’s basketball team (5-5, 0-0 SSC) defeated the University of Missouri-Rolla Miners (3-6, 0-2) on Thursday evening at the de Hoernle Center on the campus of Lynn University for the Pepsi/Double Tree Guest Suites Holiday Classic, 65-51.
After a tight first half, Barry out-shot Missouri-Rolla by 12 points in the second, shooting 33.3 percent from the field and almost 77 percent from the line. In the final two minutes of the game, freshman Chris Uz was sent to line twice to help his team secure the win. Uz shot a perfect 6-6 from the line and also collected nine points and six rebounds against the Miners. Karega Tucker earned 19 points for the Bucs and was 6-8 from the line.
The two teams exchanged leads throughout the first half as the Bucs entered the locker room up two on the Miners, 33-31. The Bucs shot an impressive 50 percent from the field and 8-8 from the line.
Barry will face the University of New Haven Chargers tomorrow, Fri. December 21 at 5pm in the second round of the Pepsi/Double Tree Guest Suites holiday Classic hosted by Lynn University.
