PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers and Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish split a twi-night doubleheader at Palm Beach Gardens High School field on Saturday, with Barry taking game one 22-5 and PBA salvaging the nightcap 7-6.

The Buccaneers (2-1) continued their offensive onslaught in the first game, banging out 20 hits and scoring 22 runs. The Bucs tallied in seven of their nine frames, benefitting from 13 walks and three hit batters.

Nick Shaw and Brett Rossi led the way with four hits each. Shaw added four runs and five RBI. Mitch Rodriguez also scored four runs, while Yudelmis Hernandez, who homered in the fourth inning, drove in three.

Robbie Conver (1-0) picked up the win in relief of Brian Milanes who failed to complete five innings. Conver pitched four shutout innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out three.  Milanes went four innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and four walks, and struck out six.

Issac Hicks (0-1) took the loss for the Sailfish (1-2). He allowed eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits and two walks and struck out three.

Joaquin Valdez drove in Mariano Jimenez with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Sailfish to the win in the nightcap. Trailing 6-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Zach Grau and Jimenez delivered back-to-back doubles to knot the game before Valdez’s game-winner.

Barry jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in game two.  John Servidio and Joel Keefe had RBI singles in the first and Servidio added another in the third.

The Sailfish scored three in the third on one hit and three Buccaneer errors to trim the lead to one, then Billy Falconio drilled a two-run homer in the fourth to give them their first lead of the series.

It was short-lived, however. Frezza singled with one out in the fifth and Keefe brought him around with a double into the right field corner, knotting the game 5-5.

The Bucs took a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh when pinch runner Evan Ashley scored ahead of Servidio’s single.
