SAN ANTONIO, Fla. – Barry University Women’s Basketball (17-8, 8-6 SSC) completed the season sweep against Saint Leo University (12-13, 5-9 SSC) with an overpowering 55-33 victory on the road.
Princess Bailey scored a game high 15 points while Alisha Sanford contributed 10 off the bench. Bailey finished the game one rebound shy of a double-double. Amanda Mageean was also just short of a double-double with an eight point, eight rebound performance.
A low scoring first half ended with a 20-20 score between the Buccaneers and Lions. Bailey converted two free throws and a Christina Thompson jumper with 1:21 remaining tied the contest up as the Bucs were trailing by four up to that point. Bailey led all scorers with 10 first half points.
The Buccaneers opened up the second-half with a dominating 16-0 run en route to taking a 36-22 lead. The Barry defense caged the Lions limiting the offense to only 13 second-half points. No Saint Leo player registered double-digit points. The Bucs shot an impressive 38.9% from the field (21-of-54) for the half in the 22 point victory.
Dominique Daniels led the Lions with a nine points and five rebounds.
The Buccaneers will hit the road to take on the Rollins College Tars in Winter Park on Wednesday February 27th. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
