Men's Tennis Skins #39 Panthers

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers skinned the Florida Tech Panthers 8-0 at the Buccaneer Tennis Center on Monday in a Sunshine State Conference men’s tennis match postponed by weather from Feb. 12.

The Bucs (6-1, 3-0 SSC) mowed through the Panthers (2-3, 1-2 SSC) in doubles. Ales Svigelj and Patrick Rittenauer teamed up at number one to beat D. J. Pate and Jonathan Hanna 8-3. The Bucs took the other two doubles by 8-2 scores.

In singles, the matches were fairly one-sided. Andrew Sharnov, at number three, and Marcello D’Armas, at number six, posted perfect 6-0, 6-0 results over Pate and Joel Zahlan respectively.

At the top spot, Svigelj man-handled Xavier Landazuri 6-1, 6-1, while Emmanuel Fraitzl had his way with Hanna 6-2, 6-2 at number two. Manuel Lauter defeated James McLane at number three 6-2, 6-3.

Ironically, weather came back into play, halted the last singles match, number five, with Barry’s Christoph Gayer on top of David Fowler 6-2, 5-2 when the rains came down.

The Bucs travel to Orlando, Fla., this weekend to face the 10th-ranked Rollins College Tars and the third-ranked West Florida Argonauts.
