MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers closed the 2008 season with a win, beating the Nova Southeastern Sharks 63-49 in the Health & Sports Center on Saturday in Sunshine State Conference men’s basketball action.
The Bucs trailed by one, 31-30 with 16:57 remaining in the game after a jumper by Kevin Chester. But they responded with an 11-4 run over the next five minutes, capped by a Martin Leibovich three-pointer to take a 41-35 lead. They would extend in the lead to as many at 16 points before settling for the 14-point win.
Karega Tucker led a balanced attack for the Bucs (10-20, 2-14 SSC) with 16 points, while Gabe Lazo added 14 and Bryan Chiverton had 12. Chester scored a game-high 26 points for the Sharks (10-17, 5-11 SSC), while Tim Coenraad had 12.
