Women's Tennis Put Hoyas in the Pound 8-1

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – #16 Barry University Women’s Tennis team (9-2) nearly swept through visiting Division I Georgetown with an impressive 8-1 victory.
 
The Hoyas were dominated from the get go dropping all three doubles matches. The tandem of Ildiko Csordas and Caroline Stevens dealt Stephanie Cohen and Elizabeth Sullivan an 8-2 decision as Angie Werschel and Helen Wisniewski closed out Alex Sebia and Liz Winokur 8-5 in the number two slot. Olivia Lilien and Laime Contreras had a little more difficulty putting away their opponents but managed a 9-7 win as the Bucs took a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
 
Csordas defeated Courtney Olsen 6-3, 6-1 in number singles as Stevens and Contreras found themselves going into extra sets to defeat their Hoya counterparts.
 
Sebia picked up the lone point for Georgetown with against Lilien 6-3, 2-6 (13-11).
 
The women return to action on Thursday, March 13th against Auburn-Montgomery at the Buccaneer Tennis Center. The match is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
