MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers ran into the buzzsaw of NAIA top-ranked Auburn-Montgomery at the Buccaneer Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon. The Lady Senators defeated the Bucs 8-1.
The Lady Senators (7-0) took all three doubles by 8-1 scores.
In singles, newcomer Delia Sescioreanu defeated tenth-ranked Ildiko Csordas 6-2, 6-2 at the top flight and NAIA #4 Kamila Dadakhodjaeva defeated Caroline Stevens 6-2, 6-4 at number two.
NAIA #13th-ranked Tereza Veverkova defeated #25 Angie Werschel 6-3, 7-6 (6) at number three. Helen Wisniewski managed the only set win for the Bucs (9-3), falling in the sets 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 to NAIA number two-ranked Natalie Sienkob.
Number 19 Dominika Zuzulova defeated Olivia Lilien 6-3, 6-3 at number five. At number six, the Senators’ Khady Berthe defaulted to Berit Peterson for the Bucs’ only point.
The Bucs will host the Flagler Saints on Saturday, Mar. 15 at 10:00 am at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.
