Men's Tennis Cruises Over Flagler

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The seventh-ranked Barry University Buccaneers defeated the Flagler College Saints 8-1 in men’s tennis action at the Buccaneer Tennis Center on Saturday.

The Bucs (10-3), playing without three of their top four singles players, used a revamped lineup to dominate the Saints (6-7).

The Bucs led 2-1 after doubles. Patrick Rittenauer and Emmanuel Fraitzl handled David Cotrone and Harry Snoxell 8-4 at the top flight and Manuel Lauter and Christoph Gayer, matched that with an 8-4 win over Jeremy Lamande and Cody Gordon at number three. Aaron Haines and Kyle Maloof picked up the only point for the Saints by beating Jakub Fejfar and Andrew Sharnov 8-5 at number two.

In singles, the Bucs were without Rittenauer, Ales Svigelj, and Roman Werschel, but the revamped lineup pulled together and swept the Saints.

Forty-third ranked Sharnov held onto the top spot over Cotrone 7-5, 6-1. Fraitzl took the second flight 6-2, 6-1 over Haines and Lauter made it official with win over Lamande when the latter was force to retire down 6-2, 2-1.

Gayer and Marcello D’Armas posted wins at five and six respectively in straight sets. Fejfar completed the scoring with a three-set 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 win over Snoxell at number four.

The Bucs play host to the third-ranked Lynn Fighting Knights on Tuesday, Mar. 18.
