Women's Golf Finishes Fourth at SSC Tourney

Final Round
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Barry University women’s golf team finished fourth out of an eight-team field at the Sunshine State Conference Tournament hosted by Florida Tech on Tuesday afternoon. The Buccaneers carded a three-round score of 924 (302-304-318) on the 5,994 yard, par-72 Duran Golf Course.
 
Nova Southeastern (+36) claimed the SSC Championship winning the tournament by 10 strokes. The Sharks fired a three-round score of 300, which included the tournament lowest round of 288 for a team in the opening round on Monday. NSU followed with rounds of 299 and 313 respectively to earn the conference title.
 
Florida Southern (+46) finished second with a three-round score of 910 (299-305-306), while Rollins (+51) finished just five strokes back (304-302-309=915) in third. Barry’s (+60) fourth-place finished was followed by Lynn (+77) who rounded out the top five teams with a three-round score of 941 (300-313-328).
 
Barry’s Johanna Soderstrom (+11) finished tied for second with a three-round score of 227 (71-77-76). The only Buccaneer to shoot a single round under par (71 in the opening round), her efforts landed her a spot on the SSC All-Tournament Team.
 
RemiJin Camping (+15) finished T7 out of 39 individuals, while Anna Haglind (+20) finished 19th. Cristina Coll (+27) and Isadora Stapff (+31) finished T22 and T29 respectively to round out the Buccaneer individuals.
 
Nova Southeastern’s Sandra Changkija (+5) finished as the individual medalist with a three-round score of 221 (69-76-76) and earned top honors on the SSC All-Tournament Team. Other members of the all-tournament team were Florida Southern’s Heather Burgner and Lindsey Bergeon, Rollins’ Janna Coe, and Lynn’s Maha Haddioui.
 
The tournament rounds out regular season competition for the Buccaneers women’s golf team. Now they wait for a possible NCAA South Regional bid to be played at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. May 5-7.

Rounds 1 & 2

The Buccaneers carded an opening two-round score of 606 (302-304) on the 5,994 yard, par-72 Duran Golf Course.

Nova Southeastern (+11) is the current tournament leader, while NCAA Division II national champion Florida Southern (+28) is currently third. Both Rollins (+30) and Barry (+30) are currently tied for third, while Lynn (+37) rounds out the top five with one round to play on Tuesday.

Barry’s Johanna Soderstrom carded an opening round one-under-par score of 71 and finished the first day T3 with a two-round score of 148 (+4) and only three strokes out of the lead. RemiJin Camping (+6) is currently T10 out of 39 individuals with a two-round score of 150, while Anna Haglind (+10) finished the first T18. Cristina Coll (+15) and Isadora Stapff (+21) rounded out the Buccaneer team score 24th and T30 respectively.

Nova Southeastern’s Sandra Changkija (+1) is the current tournament individual leader with a two-round score of 145 after fired the tournament lowest round 69 to open the tournament.

The final round of the SSC Tournament will begin on Tuesday morning, Apr. 15 with an 8 am shotgun start.
