MIAMI SHORES, Fla.— The Barry Buccaneers dropped both ends of a Sunshine State Conference baseball doubleheader to the Nova Southeastern Sharks at Feinbloom Field on Saturday, losing game one 20-7 and the nightcap 12-2.
The Sharks pounded out 44 hits in the two games. Jimmy Sposa led NSU going five-for-five with a homer and four RBI. J.D. Martinez had seven hits, including three homers and a double with nine RBI and six runs scored. Bryan Cook had six hits with two homers, four RBI and five runs scored.
Manny Pedrozo led the Bucs, with three hits, a homer and two doubles, and scored three runs. Nick Shaw added three RBI.
Jon Spier (3-2) got the win in the opener. He worked seven innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and a five walks while striking out four. Brian Milanes (4-5) took the loss for the Buccaneers. He worked 1.1 innings before being force to leave due to an injury and allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks.
In the nightcap, Zachary North twirled 5.1 innings in his first start of the season. He allowed one run on four hits, walked one and struck out two. Aaron Main (7-5) was tagged with 12 runs on 17 hits in 5.2 innings. He walked one and struck out two as well.
The Buccaneers host St. Thomas on Tuesday night at 6:00 pm in the final game at Feinbloom Field this season.
