ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Haley Struthers scored twice as the Barry University women’s soccer team improved to 5-1-0 on the season after defeating Eckerd on the road 3-0 on Saturday night.

Though the first half was scoreless, the Bucs made quick work of the Tritons (2-5-0) in the second half, scoring all three of their goals in the first ten minutes.

Struthers scored first when she took a corner kick at 49:29. The ball was deflected by the Eckerd goalkeeper, Cory Hawkins; Struthers got the rebound and put the ball in the net. The goal was Struthers’s first for the season.

Four minutes later the Bucs were on the board again when Carley Radcliff took a penalty kick after an Eckerd foul, her first goal for the season as well. Struthers scored once more at 55:53 when she intercepted an errant pass and put the ball in from 18 yards out.

Sami Cromartie only faced two shots as she recorded her fifth win of the season, while Hawkins saw 28 shots and recorded ten saves, but dropped to 2-5-0.

The Buccaneers return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at home against SSC rival Lynn at 7:00 pm.
