Women's Golf Fires a School-Record 295 At Xavier Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Barry University Women’s golf team shot a school record 295 (+7) on Sunday to move up 2 places and finish alone in 8th place out of 15 for the Xavier Invitational at LPGA International. Head coach Patti Rizzo’s pre-round pep talk sparked solid efforts from the entire team as they shot the low round of the tournament during the final round.
 
The 295 broke the mark of 296 set in 2006 at the Lady Falcon Classic and tied twice last year (Saint Leo Women's Invitational and Lady Moc Classic).

Barry’s Cristina Coll paced the Buccaneers shooting 73 (+1) in the final round, finishing in a tie for 22nd out of 78 individuals with her 13-over-par 226 (77-79-73). Anna Haglind fired 77 (+5) in the final round, to finish one shot back of Coll, in a tie for 24th, (79-74-77=230). Johanna Soderstrom bounced back from shooting 81 in each of the first two rounds and shot a solid 73 (+1) in the final round to finish in a tie for 34th. Isadora Stapff fired the day’s second lowest round shooting an even-par 72 on her way to finishing in a tie for 37th, (80-85-72). Lizzi Over (78-81-87=246) rounded out the teams’ scores finishing in a tie for 59th.
Yale University (305-296-301=902) held off a late charge by Florida Atlantic University (303-301-299=903) to win the team event by one shot. Meanwhile, Lamar University’s Therese Nilsson (72-72-71=215) completed her wire-to-wire victory firing a 1-under-par 71 to finish the tournament at 1-under.
The Bucs will be in action again on October 20-21 at the Saint Leo Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
Women's Golf 10th of 15 at Xavier Invitational
 
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Barry University women’s golf team (314-315=629) struggled in their opening two rounds and is currently in 10th place out of 15 teams at the Xavier Invitational hosted by Xavier University on the 6065 yard par-72 LPGA International.

Anna Haglind leads the Bucs after shooting a two-round 153 (79-74), putting her in a tie for 19th place out of 78 individuals. Cristina Coll (77-79=156) is currently tied for 27th place while Lizzi Over (78-81=159) is three strokes behind her for a share of 38th. Johanna Soderstrom (81-81=162) and Isadora Stapff (80-85=165) round out the Bucs in 52nd and 61st places respectively.

Yale is the leader at this time after shooting a 601 (305-296) with one round to go while Lamar University’s Therese Nilsson (72-72=144) is the individual leader at level par.

Barry concludes the Xavier Invitational with a final round shotgun start at 8:00 am Sunday morning.
 
Darkness Suspends Play For Women's Golf At Xavier Invitational
 
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The first round of the Xavier Invitational was suspended due to darkness on Friday at the LPGA International Golf complex. While most of the field could not finish their opening round, four Buccaneers managed to get their rounds in before it became too dark.
 
Cristina Coll leads the Bucs with an opening 77, and freshman Lizzi Over carded a 78. Anna Haglind and Isadora Stapff fired 79 and 80 respectfully, while senior Johanna Soderstrom is currently 6 over par with 2 holes to play. Johanna will complete her first round on Saturday morning before the start of the second round.
