MELBOURNE, Fla.—The Barry University women’s soccer team became the second Buccaneer team to fall at the hands of Florida Tech on Saturday, losing 2-0 on the road.

The Panthers (11-5, 3-4 SSC) got an early lead at 11:44 in the first period when Paula Lillsjo punched the ball to Therese Svensson, who slipped it past Buccaneer keeper Sami Cromartie.

The remainder of the first period was relatively calm as Barry took only one shot with about 20 seconds remaining. Meanwhile, the Panthers took a total of eight shots in the first period.

In the second period, the Bucs weren’t much more active on offense, taking only three shots, none on goal, to Tech’s seven. One of these shots put the score at 2-0 when Teresa Brantley got past the Buccaneer defense and scored. The game would end in this fashion, with the Bucs moving to 9-7-1, and 1-5-1 in the SSC.

Sami Cromartie had seven saves in the loss, while Panther goalkeeper, Melissa Pyles faced no shots on goal all night, and moves to 11-5, 3-4 SSC.

The Buccaneers return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at home against Rollins at 4 pm.
