MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers assured themselves of a spot in the Sunshine State Conference men’s soccer tournament with a 5-2 win over Rollins at Buccaneer Field on Friday night thanks to Ricardo Ramirez’s second career hat-trick.

The Bucs (11-5-1, 3-4-1 SSC) struck early and often against the Tars (7-10-0, 3-5-0 SSC). Ryan Alexander got the Bucs rolling in the 12th minute with a beautiful goal over the head of Tars’ keeper Aaron Rokeach.

Pedro Petris struck in the 26th minute. Vuk Kojic passed the ball up to Alexander who one-timed the ball over to Petris for a shot just inside the top of the 18-yard box.

Ramirez then took over of the Bucs. He scored in the 38th minute when Anderson passed the ball up through the center of the Tars’ defense and Ramirez ran through for a one-on-one chance against Rokeach.

In the 41st minute, Petris chipped a shot off Rokeach and Ramirez was there to tap in the rebound.

After Rollins narrowed the score to 4-1 on a goal by Stuart Siddall, Ramirez struck again on another rebound. Anderson placed a free kick on the goal mouth that Rokeach was able to turn away, but could not stop Ramirez on the second chance.

Andreas Mayer closed out the scoring with a late goal for Rollins in the 82md minute.

Rokeach made five saves for the Tars in taking the loss. Devela Gorrick made nine saves for the Bucs, while Joao Garcia also turned aside a shot inside the six-yard box.

The Bucs will hear on Sunday where and who they will play in the SSC Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
