LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Despite the close final score, the Barry University women’s basketball team only trailed twice on their way to a 61-55 victory over Colorado Christian Saturday night to win the Colorado Christian Thanksgiving Classic.

Barry (6-0) jumped out early, as they never trailed in the first half.

Alisha Sanford and Mariesa Greene combined on a three-point run that helped push the Bucs to their largest lead of 11 with less than four minutes left to play in the first frame.

Colorado Christian (2-4) hung tough in the second half, as the Cougars took their first lead of the night on a three-pointer by Talmai Aguirre just three minutes in.

Following an Abby Rosenthal layup just a minute later helped the Cougars regain the lead, a trey from Kristy Singletary helped put the Bucs ahead for good.

Princess Bailey once again powered the way for Barry.

The 5-foot-6 senior guard not only scored 12 points, but also finished her night with a double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds (seven offensive).

Greene led all scorers with 14 points and just missed another double-double with eight boards. For the week, Greene averaged a little over 16 points a game and over 10 rebounds in the three games this week.

Greene and Lucy Martinez were named to the All-Tournament team, while Bailey was selected MVP.

Barry will remain in Colorado, as they will conclude their trip with a game at Division I Air Force Monday beginning at 7 p.m. (MST)
