Women's Tennis Easily Defeats Palm Beach Atlantic

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University women’s tennis team walked away with a 7-2 victory against Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday, moving them to 3-1 on the season.
 
The Bucs started the day off right when Angie Werschel and Lamie Contreras beat Montse Ripoll and Olga Alekseeva 8-5 in number one doubles.  In number two doubles, Yulia Kashelkina and Caroline Wendling beat Lina Rubiano and Natalie Aleman 8-2. The number three doubles team of Berit Peterson and Mei Jing-Ang took their set, 8-1, beating Pamela Artigas and Katie Livesay.
 
The Bucs took four of the six singles competitions with wins by Werschel, Wendling and Kashelkina in one, two, and three respectively.  Natalie Aleman beat Lamie Contreras 4-6, 7-5, 13-11 at the number four spot, while Katie Liversay beat Julie Cadet 6-4, 1-6, 10-8 in the number five spot. Mei-Jing Ang beat Pamela Artigas 7-6(4), 6-2 in the final singles spot.
 
The Bucs travel for three matches this weekend, facing Tampa in Tampa on Friday, Florida Southern on Saturday in Lakeland, Fla., and Florida Tech on Sunday in Melbourne, Fla.
