MELBOURNE, Fla.— The Barry University women’s tennis team capped off a successful weekend road trip, beating Florida Tech (2-1, 1-1 SSC) 6-3 on Sunday afternoon.
The Bucs (6-1, 4-1 SSC), took two of the doubles matches with wins by Angie Werschel and Yulia Kashelkina in the number two spot, and Berit Peterson and Mei-Jing Ang in the number three spot.
In singles competition Barry was successful in the first three spots. Werschel defeated Natalie Ramos 6-2, 6-2 in the number one spot. In number two singles Carloline Wendling beat Abigail Greif 6-2, 6-0. In number three singles Kashelkina beat Monica Price 6-1, 6-0 to give the Bucs the win.
Ang also won in number six singles, beating Alexis Weinning 5-7, 6-2, 10-3.
The Bucs, ranked #21 in the nation, beat SSC opponents Tampa on Friday and #17 Florida Southern on Saturday.
The Bucs return to action during Spring Break when they face Charlotte on the road on Sunday, Mar 1.
