MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University baseball team didn’t waste much time jumping on Concordia Saturday night.

The Bucs tallied six runs in the first inning, on their way to a convincing 16-4 win at Feinbloom Field.

The Bucs (10-2) patiently waited to explode in the first frame, as the first three batters walked. Yas Gutierrez then drove in a run on a fielder’s choice, Manny Pedrozo followed with an RBI single up the middle and Yudelmis Hernandez made it an inning to remember, as he took the first pitch out over the right-center field wall for a grand slam and a 6-1 Barry lead.

Barry once again found the home run stroke, as Mitch Rodriguez hit a towering two-run shot to left field in the fourth, then Julio Ramos drilled a three-run homer to left field in the eighth.

Bobby Hernandez (2-1) benefited on the mound, as he went five innings, striking out six and allowing just one run, which came on a solo home run in the first inning.

The Bucs will be back in action today as they will once again play Concordia beginning at 12:00 noon.
