MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – While there were no clouds to speak of, the Barry University baseball team provided plenty of thunder and lightning in a doubleheader sweep of Lynn Saturday afternoon in Sunshine State Conference action.

Barry (14-2, 3-0 SSC) rolled to a 19-2 win in the first game, and then completed the sweep with an 8-3 win in the nightcap.

All it took the Bucs to explode in the first game was one inning.

After Lynn (15-6, 0-3 SSC) tallied two runs in the top of the fourth, the Bucs went to work in the bottom of the inning.

With the first three runners reaching base, the bases stayed busy the rest of the inning, as the Bucs plated 13 runs in the inning that lasted over an hour to complete.
Mitch Rodriguez delivered the first run with an RBI single, then turned the offense over to Joel Keefe.
Keefe began his solid inning with an RBI sacrifice fly, then on his second turn through in the inning, he belted a grand slam over the left field wall to complete the 13-run, nine-hit assault.

Charley Short (5-0) benefited from the offensive outburst, lasting six innings and giving up just two earned runs. Robbie Conver recorded the save, pitching a solid three innings, striking out five and allowing just two hits.

In game two, Scott Sexton kept the Bucs in the game on the mound until the offense help put the game out of reach.
Usually the setup man for Barry, Sexton pitched six innings, allowing just one unearned run recording his first win of the season.

After Yan Gomes drilled a massive shot over the left-center field wall for a solo homer in the fourth to give the Bucs a 2-1 lead, they put the game out of reach in the sixth.

Gomes delivered another run, this time an RBI double to plate Danny Lima to begin the scoring in the inning.
Following an error that helped prolong the inning, Yudelmis Hernandez unloaded on a first-pitch fastball, pounding a three-run shot over the left-center field fence giving the Bucs an 8-1 advantage.

Gomes and Hernandez combined to drive in five of the eight runs scored to lead Barry to the series sweep.

The Bucs will be back in action this Tuesday when they host St. Thomas beginning at 6 p.m. at Feinbloom Field.
