Men's Tennis Stampedes Past Bison

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The top-ranked Barry Buccaneers stayed perfect with an 8-1 win over the Bucknell Bison on Wednesday in men’s tennis action at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.
 
The Bucs (11-0) swept the doubles. Andrew Sharnov and Sergio Velez downed Ryan Sandburg and Anton Kovic 8-1 at the top flight. At number two, Emanuel Fraitzl and Jakub Fejfar beat Greg Cohenca and Jon Brenner 8-2, while Roman Werschel and Marcello D’Armas closed out the sweep 8-3 over Dan Bednarek and Mark Malloy.
 
In singles, it was much the same. Ales Svigelj rolled over Sandburg 6-2, 6-3 at the top flight. Fraitzl made it official with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kovic at number two.
 
At three, Sharnov took care of Cohenca 6-3, 6-2, while Werschel handled Malloy 6-2, 6-1 at number four. Velez beat Brenner 6-0, 6-1 at number five.
 
Bednarek kept the Bison (2-5) from being shutout with a 6-4, 6-1 win over David Barragan.
 
The Bucs travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., this weekend to face defending national champs Armstrong Atlantic in a rematch of last year’s final along with NAIA power Embry-Riddle and Flagler.
