MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—A two-day duel match against St. Edward’s wasn’t enough to stall the Barry University women’s tennis team who beat the Eckerd Tritons (0-10) on Sunday 9-0.
The Bucs began the day well, taking all three doubles matches by a 8-0 score. Angie Werschel and Yulia Kashelkina won in the number one spot, Berit Peterson and Caroline Wendling took the number two spot, and Mei-Jing Ang and Lamie Contreras took the number three spot.
Ins ingles action, the Bucs were just as successful, earning all six points. In number one singles, Werschel beat Carolina Sonnervig 6-1, 6-0. In number two, Kashelkina defeated Stephanie Jenks 6-0, 6-0. In number three singles, Wendling beat Maria Flavia Russo 6-0, 6-0. In the four spot, Contreras beat McLaughlin 6-0, 6-0. Ang and Julie Cadet wrapped it up for the Bucs, as Ang beat Buelow by default, and Cadet defeated Sonnet Ludwig 6-2, 6-1.
The Bucs remain the 15th ranked team in the nation. They return to action on the road a week from today at Rollins at 10:00 am.
