MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers (20-9) used the solid pitching of Amber Jack and Brianna Smith to sweep a softball doubleheader from the Southern New Hampshire Penmen, winning game one 1-0 and taking the nightcap 8-0 in five innings.

With the two shutouts, the Bucs extended their scoreless streak to 45.2 innings, dating back to Mar. 15 at Florida Tech. They have recorded six straight shutouts.

In the first game, Penmen pitchers Kelsey Griffin and Amanda Barton (0-2) matched Jack (13-5) pitch for pitch. While Jack scattered three hits and did not walk a batter, the Penmen duo in fact did not allow a hit until the seventh inning.

In the seventh, Jessica Tabor led off with a single to left and Cassy Zamora came in to pinch run. Amanda Goelz dropped a bunt down the third base line and Zamora alertly scampered all the way to third on the sacrifice. Natalie Heeley followed with an infield single to short to plate the winning run.

Barton took the loss for SNHU. She allowed just the one run on two hits in 3.1 innings without walking or striking out a batter. Jack allowed three hits, but struck out 12 to record her fourth straight shutout and stretch her scoreless streak to 36.1 innings.

In the nightcap, Smith (7-4) held the Penmen (2-6) to just one hit and the Buccaneer bats came alive to match the season high for runs scored.

In the second inning, Heeley drew a leadoff walk. After two groundouts left her at third, Amber Durkin beat out a ground ball to second base to plate the first run. Brittany Anderson followed with an infield hit to short and she and Durkin worked a double steal to put runners at second and third. Shyla Rider came through with single to right center to bring in both runners. After a wild pitch moved Rider to second, Grace Collins singled up the middle to drive her home.

Sara Hipson knocked in Heeley in the third inning to make it 5-0 after Heeley reached on an error.

In the fourth, Anderson led off with a single and Rider drew a walk. Collins moved the runners with a bunt and Goelz doubled down the right field line to bring both home. Goelz scored one batter latter when Heeley drove a double into the left center gap.

Kyla Puccini (2-1) took the loss for the Penmen. She gave up four runs on six hits and a walk in two innings.

Rider and Anderson both went two-for-two and scored twice each, while Rider and Goelz both had two RBI.

The Bucs travel to St. Leo, Fla., on the weekend to face the Lions.
