Men's Golf Has Strong Final Round At Bobcat Invite

EATONTON, Ga. -- The Barry University men's golf team had a strong showing on the final round of the Bobcat Invite Tuesday, moving up two spots to finish in fifth.

Host Georgia College and State University came back to hold off Columbus State to take first by seven-strokes.

Nova Southeastern (870) and Valdosta State (876) finished in third and fourth, respectively.

The Bucs 877 (302-285-290) also matched Florida Southern to finish in a tie for fifth, as Barry gained six-storkes on the final day to catch the Mocassins.

Carlos Velez remained consistant throughout the invite, as he finished with a 214 (71-72-71) to place him in a tie for seventh.

Victor Billskoog 217 (74-71-72) also tallied solid second and third rounds to finish in a tie for 16th.

Daniel Stapff 219 (78-70-71) continued to lower his score as the invite grew deeper, knocking off several strokes from his first day scoring and moving up into a tie for 22nd.

Chris Carlin 228 (79-73-76) and Chris Davis 231 (80-72-79) finished in 48th and 61st respectively.

Barry will now have a little bit of a break before the Buccaneer Invite will take place at Normandy Shores Golf Course that will begin on Monday, March 6.

Men's Golf Currently In Seventh After Two

EATONTON, Ga. – The Barry University men’s golf team fired a 587 (302-285) to place them in a tie for seventh after two rounds of the Bobcat Invite at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee on Monday.

Columbus State currently leads the way with a 564, with host Georgia College and State University eight-strokes off the pace.

Sunshine State Conference foes Nova Southeastern (579) and Florida Southern (581) currently sit ahead of the Bucs in third and fourth, respectively.

Carlos Velez once again finds himself at the top for the Bucs, as he fired a 143 (71-72) which has him in a tie for 14th.

Victor Billskoog isn’t far behind, as his 145 (74-71) has him in a tie for 21st.

Daniel Stapff put together a strong second round to jump into a tie for 33rd with a 148 (78-70).

Chris Carlin (79-73) and Chris Davis (80-72) each carted a 152 after two round which has them both in a tie for 54th.

The Bucs will conclude the Bobcat Invite Tuesday morning.
