ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – With the winds swirling, the ball was flying out in every direction. After outslugging Eckerd in game one to pull out the win in 11 innings, 13-9, the Bucs crushed the Tritons in the second game, 13-0, to complete the sweep Saturday in Sunshine State Conference play.

Barry (27-3, 8-1 SSC) looked to have game one in hand in extra innings after plating a pair of runs in the top of the 10th, but an Eckerd (16-17, 2-7) two-run homer by Chris Killoren tied the game at nine.

The Bucs made sure to put the game out of reach in the 11th, as Harlod Holness, Yan Gomes and Yas Gutierrez all hit home runs to give Barry a four-run advantage.

Josh Holmes pitched a solid bottom of the inning to complete the victory for Scott Sexton.

Game two was about offense and Charley Short.

Short pitched a complete game, recording 11 strikeouts and walking just three in recording the shutout.

The hits remained plentiful for the Bucs, as Barry opened the game with five in the first, behind a Gomes two-run double and a Mitch Rodriguez two-run homer to help open an early 5-0 lead.

Barry put the game out of reach for good in the fifth, thanks to another homer by Gomes, this time a three-run shot to left field, his third home run of the day.

In addition to his three home runs, Gomes also tallied 8 RBI. Gutierrez also provided plenty of hits, tallying six hits and a pair of home runs.

Barry will host Palm Beach Atlantic on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before jumping back into SSC play on Friday at home against Saint Leo.
