MIAMI SHORES, Fla.— The Barry University women’s tennis team earned their second win in as many days on Saturday, beating Northwood 5-4.
In the number one doubles spot, Angie Werschel and Yulia Kashelkina defeated Mikaela Seger and Fiorella Moggia 8-5. In doubles two, Lamie Contreras and Mei-Jing Ang lost to Maelys Scerri and Eva Neugebauer 8-5. In the number three spot, Berit Peterson and Caroline Wendling beat Didi Jurman and Tess Svensson 8-2.
In singles action, Caroline Wendling took the number one spot, beating Seger 6-0, 6-0. In the number two spot, Kashelkina beat Moggia 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. The Bucs dropped singles numbers three, four, and five, giving wins to Scerri, Neugebauer, and Jurman 6-4, 6-3. In the number six spot, Julie Cadet beat Svensson 7-5, 6-2.
The Bucs celebrated Senior Day prior to the match, honoring two year letter winner Lamie Contreras. In three seasons, she has helped the Bucs to a 44-21 overall record.
The Bucs return to action on Friday against Rollins at 3:00 pm.
