MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers dropped a 1-0 Sunshine State Conference women’s soccer game to the Saint Leo Lions at Buccaneer Field on Tuesday night.
 
The Lions (6-2-1, 3-2-0 SSC) got the game’s only goal in the ninth minute when the Bucs (3-10-0, 1-4-0 SSC) failed to clear a shot by Andrea Lott and Sara Macko poked in the rebound.
 
Emily Pratt made 11 saves for the Bucs (3-10-0), the fourth-highest single game total in school history. Cristina Coca had two saves for the Lions and both teams benefitted from a ball blocked off the line by a defender.
 
In the 65th minute, Haley Struthers rifled a shot from just inside the 18-yard box, but Saint Leo’s Francesca Williams stepped in to the turn the shot aside. In the 82nd minute, Saint Leo’s Aija Bent-Trinder ripped a shot off a corner by Macko, but Niki Day stepped to keep it a one-goal game.
 
The Bucs travel on Saturday, Oct. 17 to Tampa, Fla., to face the Tampa Spartans at Pepin Stadium.
