BOCA RATON, Fla.—In the regular season finale, the Barry men’s soccer team surrendered two goals 0:24 seconds apart in a 3-1 loss to the Lynn Fighting Knights on Thursday.
In an afternoon affair, Barry (11-5-1, 5-3) allowed three second-half goals against Lynn (14-3-0, 5-3) ending a seven-game winning streak.
The Buccaneer goal came from junior Mark Kilpatrick with just 0:02 seconds left to play in the game. Kendall Sealy gave Kilpatrick the assist on a through ball behind the defense. Kilpatrick fielded the pass and poked his shot into the left side of the net. The goal was Kilpatrick’s third on the season and the assist was the fourth for Sealy.
After a close first half, ending in a scoreless tie, Kyle Conrad headed a service from Luke Magill into the back of the net to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. Not 0:25 seconds later, the Knight’s Scott McCubbin fired a shot from 25 yards out that connected with the left post and rolled in the goal. The third Lynn goal came from the foot of Paulo Vaz after Vaz was awarded a penalty kick on a Johnny Rodrigues foul inside the box. The Vaz goal came at the 66:40 minute mark

The loss, however, does nothing to the Buccaneers’ chances of hosting a first-round Sunshine State Conference tournament game on Tuesday, as they'll enter the tournament as the fourth seed. The game is on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 7:00 p.m. Pregame converage on the Buccaneer Broadcasting Network starts at 6:30 p.m.
