Volleyball Ends Regular Season With Loss To Tampa

TAMPA, Fla.— The  Barry University volleyball wrapped up regular season play on Saturday evening, falling 3-0 to Tampa (25-12, 25-22, 25-19).
 
The Bucs (15-12, 6-10 SSC) struggled with the Tampa (28-2, 15-1 SSC) offense in the first set, falling 25-12.
 
In the second set, the Bucs were more effective, combining for 12 kills, led by Samara Ferreira who had 3. The Bucs held a two point led, up 18-16, and extended the lead to three at 21-18. Yet the Spartans stormed back taking seven of the final eight points, and a 25-22 win.
 
Set three played out much like set two with the Bucs hanging with Tampa near the beginning of the game. Tampa would take a five point lead at 19-14, and the Bucs would fall 25-19.
 
For the Buccaneers, Ferreira and Stefanie Sveiven had eight kills apiece. Libby Walter had 20 assists, and Spenser Rigg helped out on defense with 13 digs.
 
The Bucs now wait to see if they will qualify for regional competition, to be played next weekend.
