Women's Basketball Beats Up Warriors

BOCA RATON, Fla.—The Barry University women’s basketball team took their fourth-straight win on Tuesday afternoon, beating Wisconsin Lutheran 58-39 in the first game of the SpringHill Suites Classic basketball tournament at Lynn University
 
Mariessa Greene led the way for the Bucs, scoring a single-game career-high 32 points while grabbing 14 boards. The double-double is Greene’s sixth on the season.
 
The Bucs (6-3) and Warriors (4-4) got out to slow starts in the first half as the game was tied at 12-12 with 7:53 remaining. The Bucs went on a 12-5 run to end the half, and head into halftime up 24-17.
 
Barry continued it’s run in the second half, getting out to leads of ten multiple times. The Warriors got close, cutting the Buccaneer lead to five, 40-35, with 9:53 remaining, but the Bucs were dominant down the stretch and went on to win 58-39.
 
Beyond’s Greene’s stellar day, Tara O’Malley had nine points for the Bucs. Tilde Ahlin added five points and six boards while Tasheema Lewis scored four.
 
The Bucs return to action tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 against Ave Maria in their second game of the tournament.
