Women's Tennis Moves to 5-0 With Win Over Tritons

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.—The Barry women’s tennis team moves to 5-0 on the season with a 9-0 sweep over the Eckerd Tritons on Sunday.

Freshman Juliet Serabien blanks her opponent in both singles and doubles play. Serabien defeated Eckerd’s #5 6-0, 6-0 then partnered with Darya Yablonskaya to win the #3 doubles 8-0.

At the top of the Buccaneer lineup, Angie Werschel defeated Eckerd’s Emily Laing 6-1, 3-6, 10-8. Kashelkina picked up her third singles win of the week at #2, Mia Fiocca took down Eckerd’s #3 6-0, 6-1, Yablonskaya beat her opponent 6-0, 6-2 and Katarina von Scholl finished the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-4 win at #6.

The sweep continued in doubles with Werschel and Fiocca defeating Eckerd’s #1 pair 8-4. Berit Peterson teamed up with Kashelkina at #2 for an 8-1 win and Serabien/Yablonskaya rounded things out at #3.

The next match for the Buccaneers is Sunday, Feb. 28 against Florida Tech at 1:00 p.m. in the Buccaneer Tennis Center.
