WINTER PARK, Fla.— The #2 ranked Barry University men’s tennis team continued its winning ways on Friday afternoon by beating the Rollins College Tars 6-3.
The Bucs (5-0, 3-0 SSC) took a 2-1 lead after doubles with wins at #2 and #3. In the two spot, Ales Svigelj and Andrew Sharnov beat Nick Rowlands and Pablo Seijo 8-5. At number three, Marco Mokrzycki and Sergio Velez spanked Arturo Baravalle and Girtz Dzelde 8-1.
Rollins (2-3, 1-1 SSC) earned their point in doubles at the number one spot where Emanuel Fraitzl and Max Wimmer lost to Jeff Morris and Neil Clausen 9-7.
In singles action, the Bucs took four of the six matches. At number one, Morris defeated #11 Mokrzycki 6-4, 4-6, 10-2. The win gave Rollins their second point of the match.
At the two spot, #15 Svigelj nearly blanked #14 Clausen, beating him in two sets 6-1, 6-1.
#33 ranked Friatzl beat Chris Herbert 6-4, 6-1 at number three and #34 Wimmer took down Baravalle 7-5, 6-3 in the number four spot.
Rollins’ third point of the match came in number five singles where Dzelde beat Sharnov 6-3, 4-6, 10-8.
Barry wrapped up singles play in the number six position where Velez beat Constantin Sturdza with ease, 6-4, 6-0.
The Bucs move to 5-0 on the season and return to action tomorrow afternoon against Saint Leo in Sunshine State Conference play.
