Men's Tennis Avoids Cancellation and Takes the Win

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry men’s tennis team only needed five matches to defeat the Georgetown Hoyas 5-0 on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers only played five matches due to rain, but swept the three doubles matches and took two singles matches before the South Florida skies opened and canceled the remaining games.

Playing at the #1 doubles spot was the senior pair of Ales Svigelj and Andrew Sharnov. Svigelj/Sharnov took down the Hoyas #1 pair of Bryan Miller and Andrew Bruhn 8-4. At the #2 spot Emanuel Fraitzl and Max Wimmer defeated David Tillem and Charlie Caris 9-8 (7-5). Finishing the doubles sweep was Marco Mokrzycki and Sergio Velez with a 8-2 win over Tim Walsh and Rafael Notario.

Before the rains came, Svigelj took down Will Lowell 6-1, 6-1 and Sharnov defeated Bruhn 6-1, 6-0.

The Buccaneers next play #7 West Florida on March 10, at 2:00 p.m., here at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.
