Women's Tennis Gets Back On Track Over Jags

SAVANNAH, Ga.—The fifth-ranked Barry Buccaneers got back in the win column over #29 Augusta State on Sunday, 5-0, at Bacon Park in Savannah, Ga.

The Bucs (9-1) swept the doubles with ease. Barbi Pocza and Yulia Kashelkina mowed down Marina Ferreria and Bianca Machado 8-1 at the top flight. At number two, Angie Werschel and Mia Fiocca defeated Victoria Lindqvist and Keaton Sanders 8-3. At the bottom flight, Berit Peterson teamed with Caroline Wendling, getting a rare doubles start, and beat Camila Correa and Luiza Pires 8-2.

In singles, the Bucs captured the bottom two flights, losing only two sets. Fiocca rolled Sanders 6-0, 6-1, while Darya Yablonskaya set down Pires by the same score. The other four singles all went unfinished, though the Bucs did win first sets in all four.

The Bucs are back home on Monday, Mar. 15 to take on NCAA Division I Rutgers at 3:00 pm.
