MIAMI SHORES, Fla.— The Barry University women’s tennis team moved to 5-0 in Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday afternoon with an 8-1 win over Rollins.
 
The Tars’ (10-4, 3-2 SSC) lone point came at number three doubles where Holly Fleming and Stefania Tkach defeated Berit Peterson and Darya Yablonskaya 8-5.
 
The Bucs took the other two doubles matches. Barbi Pocza and Yulia Kashelkina took down Margaret Junker and Kayli Ragsdale 8-6 in the one spot. At number two doubles, Angie Werschel and Mia Fiocca beat Roshni Luthra and Lisa Loft 9-7.
 
In singles action, the Bucs swept all six matches to help propel them to the win. At number one singles, Pocza beat Luthra 6-1, 6-2. At number two, #10 Werschel beat Fleming 7-6 (7-5), 6-2. At number three, Kashelkina nearly blanked Tkach, winning 6-1, 6-2.
 
The Bucs were solid in the lower single seeds as well as #31 Wendling beat Junker 6-0, 6-1 at number four. Fiocca took Ragsdale 6-3, 6-3 at number five, and Peterson rounded out the Buccaneers’ win with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Clarke Tatje.
 
The Bucs return to action tomorrow when they host Florida Southern at 10:00 am.
