MIAMI SHORES, Fla.— The Barry University baseball team swept the Southern New Hampshire Penmen in two games on Tuesday night. The Bucs won 13-11 in the first game, then 12-7 in the second.
In game one, the Penmen (5-9) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning. Yet the Bucs (19-7) scored eight runs in the first two innings to retake the lead.
In the top of the seventh, the Penmen took an 11-10 lead off of solid hitting through the middle of the lineup. The Bucs, however, earned the win with a three-run eighth inning in which Julio Ramos, Nick Shaw, and Drew Dwelly scored.
In the second game, the Bucs scored six runs in the first two innings to take the lead. Ryan Garcia hit a two-run homer in the first while Yas Gutierrez blasted a three-run shot in the third. The Bucs scored six runs in the final four innings.
The Penmen scored seven runs in the sixth inning off of a few Barry errors, but were unable to catch the Bucs in the end.
Brad McAllister earned the win in the first game, moving to 4-3 for the season. Tyler King took the win in the second game. King is 3-0 for the season.
The Bucs return to action this weekend when they travel to Saint Leo to take on the Lions in SSC action. The Bucs play on Friday 1t 6:00 pm, and a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1:00 pm.
