BOCA RATON, Fla.—In preseason action, the Barry men’s soccer team registered a 1-1 draw against DI opponent Florida Atlantic on a hot Saturday morning.

The lone Buccaneer goal for the Bucs came off the foot of Sascha Koettig with just under five minutes to play in the first half. Feeding Koettig on the goal was Mark Anderson. The Koettig/Anderson duo executed a beautiful give-and-go just outside the box, resulting in Koettig putting the ball home at the lower 90 from 15 yards out.

Florida Atlantic rallied late in the second period, scoring in the 84th minute. The goal came from Martin Nesic at the top of the box. Barry keeper Daniel Walsh just missed the save as the ball just bounded over him as he dove for the stop.

Coach Steve McCrath used the exhibition to take at look at his 2010 squad in action. McCrath played 20 of his 25 players in the affair. Clocking minutes in the game were newcomers Lucas Noboa, Joong Kim, Cristiano Sevieri, and Guilherme Oliveira.

The Buccaneers head into week two of preseason with their sights set on another DI opponent. Barry faces Florida International next Saturday at home starting at 7:00 p.m.
